For first time buyers Priya Pal and Rajesh Nair, London Help to buy and Lovell Homes' high tech marketing suite made choosing to buy a Trinity Walk an easy choice.
The newlyweds, both 35, bought a one-bedroom apartment at Trinity Walk, a new development by Lovell Homes in Woolwich, London, earlier last year (2017).
Priya and Rajesh’s property search started shortly after they got engaged, as they wanted to secure a home for when they returned from their wedding in India.
Priya said: “We were specifically looking for homes available through London Help to Buy because we knew we couldn’t afford to buy on the open market. When we discovered Trinity Walk, we were excited that it was not only in the location we wanted, but also within budget.
“We didn’t need to wait to see the showhome, we knew from using the virtual reality equipment in the marketing suite and seeing the floor plans that this was going to be the home for us. We just had a really good feeling about it.”
After a nine month search, Priya and Rajesh purchased a one-bedroom apartment at Trinity Walk for £325,000. Through London Help to Buy they were entitled to a 40% government loan and were only required to pay a five per cent deposit.
Priya, an Investment Banking Professional, previously spent £1,200 a month renting in Canary Wharf near to her office. She said: “Purchasing a home on the other side of the river in Woolwich was important to us because it meant we’d still be within easy commutable distance and closer to where our friends live.”
Priya’s commute from her new home is just a seven-minute walk to Woolwich station and then a short trip on the DLR, totalling an easy journey of just 35 minutes.
The arrival of Crossrail in 2018 will provide even quicker journeys into the centre of London. With 12 services an hour, passengers from Woolwich will be able to reach Canary Wharf in eight minutes, Liverpool Street in 14 minutes and Bond Street in just 22 minutes.
Priya and her husband are already enjoying the perks of living at Trinity Walk. She said: “Woolwich has everything we were looking for. It has great investment potential, has all the major stores we use day-to-day and it has the added bonus of a local market, which is great at the weekends to wander around when I’m not working.
“We’re really excited to finally have our own space, as this now means we can concentrate on enjoying married life and starting a family.”
Trinity Walk comprises one, two and three-bedroom apartments and a collection of three and four-bedroom townhouses, as well as a selection of wheelchair adaptable homes.
Prices start from £60,000 for a one-bedroom apartment and London Help to Buy is available on all homes priced under £600,000 with just a five per cent deposit needed. The government will lend 40 per cent of the home’s value through a five year interest-free loan, so a mortgage for only the remaining 55 per cent is needed.
