A newlywed couple in Newport have kickstarted married life by moving to a brand-new, three-bedroom home at Lovell Homes’ popular Locke Gardens development.
Lucy and Liam Wilson, both aged 26, made the move to Locke Gardens earlier this year with their cats Leo and Cleo. Prior to the move, the couple spent four years living in a three-bedroom end terrace property in the city, before deciding it was time to upsize, as they started to think about having a family.
Lucy, from Chepstow, said: “Our old home was an ex-council house, so we really wanted to move into a home that didn’t need doing up. We went to visit Locke Gardens and immediately fell in love with the Lansdown style home and Lovell.
“It’s lovely having everything new and not needing to make any major changes, we won’t ever go back to a second-hand house now. Since we started our homebuying journey, the Lovell team have been amazing, they’re always really proactive.”
The Lansdown is a three-bedroom, detached home which Lucy and Liam bought off-plan when the development launched.
Lucy continued: “Upon reservation we paid to have carpet put in upstairs and it made such a difference having our bedroom ready to go as soon as we moved in. We also found a lot of things came as standard with Lovell, such as kitchen and bathroom spotlights, whereas with other developers we looked at we would have had to pay extra for the same features.”
Liam, from Caldicot, added: “The Lansdown perfectly suits our way of living. As we’d just got married it was the best choice for us financially, and we love that the kitchen overlooks the rear garden, as this makes the home futureproof for when we have kids. The hallway is nice and bright, the living room is a great size and the spacious drive between ours and our neighbours’ houses makes our home really private.”
Alongside finding their dream home, the couple also fell in love with the quiet location and community at Locke Gardens, and are now enjoying the peace without feeling disconnected from the buzz of the city.
Liam said: “Locke Gardens is in a nice area, with lots of footpaths, parks and lakes. There’s a primary school on the site which is perfect for when we start a family, and the M4 is nearby so we can easily visit family and friends who live further afield. We love still being close to the city centre too and having a shopping centre, Spytty Retail Park, on our doorstep.
“Our family love our home so much that my mum is buying a Lansdown at Locke Gardens too. She’s selling her own property now and we’re looking forward to having her close by.”
Locke Gardens is situated on the former Llanwern steelworks, and consists of a stylish collection of 286 two, three and four-bedroom homes. The development is open seven days a week, 10am to 5pm, and property seekers can visit to tour the Lansdown showhome.

This year, Lovell Homes achieved Gold for customer service with In-house Research, meaning an impressive 91 per cent of customers in the South Wales and West would recommend Lovell to family and friends.
