A young couple in Louth have taken their first steps on the property ladder at Lovell Homes’ Tennyson Fields development by taking advantage of the Government-backed Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme.
Kelsey Desay, 23, and Callum Sykes, 27, moved into their first home with their cat Bleu after three years of renting in Louth. The couple wanted to upsize to a place they could truly call their own before getting married, despite their wedding being pushed back by a year due to the pandemic.
Tennyson Fields proved to be the perfect place to settle down, as Louth is where they feel most at home. The development is close to the couple’s family and benefits from beautiful scenery and countryside on its doorstep.
Kelsey, an NHS Systems and Data Administrator who grew up in Lincolnshire, said: “We chose a new build as we loved the idea of having a blank canvas and designing our own space. We liked having the ability to choose everything for our home to make it as tailored to us as possible, and most of all we loved being the first people in the property.
“We purchased a semi-detached, two-bedroom Coleby style home, which is perfect for us as first-time buyers. We were first drawn to the layout and how spacious the property is, and loved that it came complete with a wonderful garden and large driveway with plenty of space for two cars.
“Tennyson Fields is a lovely development; it’s well looked after, clean and tidy. Everyone here is very welcoming and friendly and our neighbours are very respectful. Louth is a lovely market town, I grew up here and really love the area. There’s lots of open space and beautiful scenery, with local shops and all other amenities you would need in close proximity.”
Callum, a Restaurant Manager, lived in Spain for most of his childhood before moving to Devon in his teenage years. He added: “We would definitely recommend Lovell; their homes are built to an amazing standard and everyone has been so accommodating and helpful throughout the purchasing and designing of our home. Alexandrea in the sales office is fantastic at her job and was always there to assist us in any queries, and everyone else we spoke with went above and beyond to make the experience as easy and enjoyable as possible, even during the pandemic.
“We had been saving for a while to purchase our first home, but the Help to Buy scheme was definitely a huge help. It’s a great way to get young couples on the property ladder and makes the home buying process so much easier.”
First-time buyers will be able to benefit from the new Government-backed Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme*, using just a 5% deposit. The remaining amount is made up from a 75% mortgage and a 20% equity loan, which is interest free for the first five years. The new scheme will see regional price caps brought into effect, with the East Midlands limited to homes priced up to £261,900.
Tennyson Fields is open by appointment only, Thursday to Monday from 10am to 5pm. For further information and to book your appointment, visit Tennyson Fields, call 01507 623 541 or book your appointment online here.
