We spoke to one of the interior design teams of The Aspen Show Home about their inspiration. Andy Richardson, Managing Director at Edward Thomas Interiors said:
“The Aspen is designed for a family with teenage/university-age children, who enjoy being outdoors and engaging in outdoor activities. This lifestyle is reflected in our design. We have gone for sustainable living echoed in the styling and choice of furniture. High quality, solid pieces offer timeless elegance and are a conscious choice, built for longevity. There are no fast furniture or trend-driven purchases in this home.
“The overall design follows a modern, New England aesthetic, adopting a colour palette of soft grey, blue, taupe and sage alongside materials and fabrics that are inspired by the environment such as washed wood, stone and rattan.
“Every room in The Aspen has been well thought out, with each room having its own look and feel. The living room has a sophisticated yet cosy appearance, with a mix of seating and specific features to add character, whilst the kitchen/dining/family room has been designed to make it the hub of the home. The six-seater dining table is positioned centrally as a focal point while an L-shape sofa makes a relaxing corner space.
“Upstairs, the bedrooms each have their own look. The main bedroom is styled to emulate a luxury country hotel, whilst bedroom two was designed for a creative teen with a minimalist style. A fun floral wallpaper makes a statement behind the bed and is a fresh way to bring the outside in.
“Bedrooms three and four are both multipurpose rooms; smart spaces that can be used for guest bedrooms, a returning university student or a home office. Features in bedroom three include panelling and rattan furniture to find a harmonious balance between youth and maturity. Whilst in bedroom four, thoughtful wall treatments such as block painting around the nook for the desk, illustrate how to ‘zone’ a room and use the space to your advantage.”
Harleston is a charming ancient market town in South Norfolk full of historic buildings and an array of independent speciality shops.
