On Wednesday 23rd October 2024, Year 10 construction students from Acle Academy visited the Lovell Park View development in Holt. Students toured a 2 and a half story ‘Osbourne’ house and had a guided tour of the site to support their learning.
Mr Green, Head of Creative Industries at Acle Academy, said: “As part of the curriculum offer at Acle Academy we offer Key Stage 4 students the opportunity to study construction and the built environment. To be able to visit sites like Park View enables our students to get a more secure level of understanding of the construction industry. Students enjoyed seeing buildings at a stage of build that many have never seen before. It was brilliant to see students so engaged with the subject, something that cannot be achieved by being based in a classroom.”
In addition to exploring a standard specification Osbourne, the group of 15 students was given the chance of touring an upgraded version of the same residence. This experience allowed them to meticulously note the distinctions and variations that can arise within identical house types.
To further enrich their understanding, the site team guided the students through one of the most expansive homes on the development, a stunning Queenswood house type, featuring four spacious bedrooms. This visit provided the students with the opportunity to appreciate an entirely different layout and construction stage, while also enabling them to pose inquiries about unique features exclusive to that particular home.
The student posed many questions to the site team, immersing themselves deeply in the experience. This interaction not only allowed the site team to impart their expertise but also aimed to ignite a passion in some students to pursue careers within the construction industry.
Park View at Holt is a brand new development of 108 two-, three- and four-bedroom energy efficient homes located in an enviable location adjacent to Holt Country Park, a Green Flag award winning, 100-acre woodland.
